Young Farmers Celebrate!
An end of year celebration took place at Surrey Docks Farm on Saturday 17th December for members of the Young Farmers Club. Young Farmers were awarded certificates by Ian Moore, manager of the Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, to celebrate all their efforts and positive contributions throughout 2011.
Parents and friends gathered to celebrate the group’s work which involves local young people learning about all aspects of work on the farm such as animal care and gardening as well as team work and good communication.
British Land, joint owner of Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, who sponsors the Young Farmers Club, has seen the club grow from just a few members meeting once a month to two large groups meeting every Saturday and the number of members is set to grow further in the New Year!
Jane O'Sullivan, the Young Farmer's Club co-ordinator, said 'The Young Farmers Club has had a really brilliant first year thanks to the efforts of the youngsters and all the support we get from British Land and Surrey Quays Shopping Centre. We certainly have had lots to celebrate and this is a great end to the year, and we'll be involving even more local kids in the Farm's activities in the New Year"
