Our Vision
Surrey Quays is at the heart of an area experiencing an exciting period of regeneration and change.
Why are we improving the shopping centre?
Southwark Council has set out ambitious plans for development within Canada Water established in the adopted Core Strategy and the draft Canada Water Area Action Plan. The regeneration will deliver a vibrant town centre for Rotherhithe - with the shopping centre continuing to be at the heart of the community.
Our plans ensure the future development of the Shopping Centre contributes to meeting the Council's vision for the area.
What have we done so far?
We have prepared an illustrative Masterplan for the wider Canada Water area to demonstrate how these proposals represent the first phase of the longer term vision for the area.
The Masterplan has been developed in consideration of the Council's plans, and will help to meet its strategic vision for the area.
We have recently completed a three month consultation process on the detailed plans for the first phase of the delivery of the Masterplan. The feedback received during the consultation was used to refine our proposal, and we have now submitted a detailed planning application for 15 – 20 new shops and restaurants, along with an outline planning application for a single storey car park deck incorporating retail kiosks.
